Australia, Alice Springs 1999
For several months, the Flinders Biomedical Engineering Group
provided a peer to peer assesment and support of organisational
and operational aspects of the biomedical engineering department
in Alice
Springs Hospital during a period of restructuring .
Particular challenges brought about by the unique health
requirements, remote location and large distances to dependent
communities, are addressed here in part by the Royal Flying
Doctor Service, a large dialysis unit and provision of mobile
clinics. These dimensions add an interesting variation to
the normal range of problems faced by biomeds. |
