Fluid Warmer

Flinders Biomedical Engineering have developed a Fluid Warmer that will heat blood or fluid from 4 C to a maximum temperature of 42 C without the need for electrical power. The single use Fluid Warmer will maintain heating for over 30 minutes at a flow rate of 50ml/min.

The graph below shows the results using the latest prototype to heat 4 units of blood. Rises in the input temperature (blue) occur due to warming of the blood in the line while a new bag is being attached (green markers).
