The Research and Development group provides consulting and design services to Flinders Medical Centre, Flinders University of South Australia, and the medical device industry.  The existence of a hospital, a School of Informatics and Engineering, and a School of Medicine on the same campus has nurtured a dynamic biomedical engineering environment for the research, design, development, testing and application of new medical devices, services and programs.  Contact R&D Group

The R&D group has extensive resources to support medical device consulting and design for research and industry.

  •  Take concepts through to pre-production prototype
  •  Provide engineering advice for medical device manufacturing & production problems
  •  Advise on user and clinical requirements of medical devices
  •  Coordinate clinical trials of medical devices
  •  Research biomedical fundamentals to provide scientific support of initial concepts
  •  Provide advice on medical device compliance with national and international standards and regulations

The R&D group brings together biomedical engineers and technicians, extensive mechanical, electronic and programming resources, and a multidisciplinary network of clinical & academic experts to enable complete development for novel clinical and research devices from original conceptualisation and design through to the manufacture of pre-production prototypes.
