Maintenance and repair of Laboratory Equipment and Analysers

The Papua New Guinea Health Sector Support Program (PNG HSSP) tasked the subcontractor (RMIT International Pty. Ltd. in association with Meddent) to design and deliver a short course to provide in-service training on the use, maintenance and repair of Laboratory Equipment and Analysers.

The eleven participants were provincial and national central district biomedical equipment technicians who have received basic and advanced training in the theory of operation, use and repair of medical equipment. Each participant had a basic knowledge of the life sciences and an education level equivalent to Level 4 Skilled Post Trades Specialist.

The trainer was Mr Joslyn Fernandez, a very experienced biomedical technician and trainer based at Flinders Biomedical Engineering (FBE), Flinders Medical Centre, Adelaide, South Australia. FBE made available its high quality teaching materials developed over several years and based on experience in several countries.
